The practice of this group is to find and follow the dancing energies in our bodies - to come home to our selves. Based in Sonoma County and Berkeley, the artists of Happenstance, Peter Krug, Gretchen Belgrave, and Ken Hayes, specialize in original songs, Americana, and Celtic music.This open mic draws 15 to 20 acts each month. You are invited to experience a lovely interactive Saturday morning program that involves non-strenuous movement, meditation and energy exercises, and supports you in cultivating your own sustainable daily practice. The topic for this workshop is "Awareness Leads Movements -- How to make your movements effortless & smooth".  Open to Beginners. See Dr. Hu's website to register or register onsite. Saturday, September 11, 2010, 7pm-10pm. :The global nonviolent resistance movement for Palestine and how it adamshapirorelates to the US Boat to Gaza project. Adam Shapiro, the guest speaker, is an unrelenting proponent for non-violence and global movement for justice in Palestine.  He will speak on these issues and the role the U.S. Boat to Gaza will play in the next Freedom Flotilla.  Shapiro is a Co- founder of the International Solidarity Movement, Board member of the Free Gaza Movement, and organizer of the U.S. Boat to Gaza project.  This is a  benefit for US Boat to Gaza. The benefit is sponsored by the BFUU Social Justice Committee. Meets in the BFUU Fellowship Hall. Suggested Donation of $15. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Pamela is welcomed back following her June workshop here. She speaks the Truth of advaita, non-duality - that the universe is one undivided whole. For the last ten years she has traveled widely in the United States, Canada and Europe, holding satsang and giving private sessions. She has endeared herself to many through her lighthearted humor and compassion, and deep understanding of what it is to be human. She lives near Santa Fe, New Mexico.

NYC-based folksinger George Mann teams up with Bay Area legends Eleanor Walden and Faith Petric (who just turned 95!) for two sets focusing on those who have come before us, including Utah Phillips and Julius Margolin, George’s longtime singing partner. Sponsors include BFUU SJCommittee, the Women's Int'l. League for Peace and Freedom, the Ecumenical Peace Inst., Grandmothers Against the War, the Grey Panthers, the War and Law League. Rep. Lee will speak on her actions in Congress against the war(s). In the BFUU Fellowship Hall. Questions will be taken after the talk (please submit in writing at the event). Admission free and donations accepted to support pro-peace efforts at BFUU.

An inspiring documentary about how Community Land Trusts create permanently affordable housing for lower-income people.

The last dance was so successful, we decided to do this one again. Everyone danced - or it seemed that way!. Come stag or drag - you will have a great time. Save the date. Details to follow. This will benefit the Kitchen Fund because even kitchens get the blues sometimes. $12 donation at the door but students and pledging members of BFUU (you know who you are :>)  get in for half price!
